Class Description

Yearbook

    Yearbook is an engaging course in which students have the unique opportunity to create a published book, prepare a publication using the latest technology, run a business and record history. Students will come to understand the various types of effective writing as well as strengthen their problem solving skills, improve communication and mange a tremendous responsibility. The units in this curriculum are interwoven with an end result being a completed school yearbook. Units will include the fundamentals of journalistic writing, photojournalism, graphic design and budget management. Assessment of the students will include an exam and focus on the production of articles, pages and layouts of the school yearbook. Students will ultimately gain an incredible sense of accomplishment, develop as a member of a team and expand their skills in writing and technologyJournalism.

Journalism

     This semester course is intended to provide students with an appreciation and understanding of how periodicals and other forms of media influence the public on a daily basis. Students will learn basic journalistic skills with an emphasis on newspaper writing. Additionally, students will be able to comprehend censorship laws and ethical dilemmas. Students will be involved in various aspects of creating a periodical including, writing, editing, page design and advertising. Student work may also assist in producing The Crusader, the newspaper of Arthur L. Johnson.

    There will be an extra help session being offered this Thursday, 1/18/18 at 2:30 pm Room 1 to assist in preparing for Final Exam next week.

  • Uploading Images to Student Life Folder- Image of Upload Button Attached

    Upload Images to Student Life Folder:
     
    1.  Email the images to your google account.
    2.  Open the email and download to your computer drive.
    3.  Open your drive, double click the file name and rename.  Do not change the file extension (.jpg)
    4.  Log into Yearbook Avenue software and go to "PAGE DESIGNER" and then "CREATE"
    5.  On the top right margin, click the small blue box with the + sign and body silhouette (see attached image)
    6.  Follow the steps to upload to the "Student Life" folder.
